Málaga is the nearest airport and now that the new motorway is completed Marbella can be reached in 40 minutes.  There is of course Gibraltar too, often overlooked; the journey will take approximately 50 minutes.  The airport is located on the border of Spain and Gibraltar. Crossing the border in a car can sometimes be problematic so it is necessary to walk through the border in order to get a Spanish taxi.  It will only take you five minutes to walk across but you have to carry your luggage!

You can book flights to/from Málaga online through one of the many low cost airlines, for instance 'BMIBaby'  'Easyjet', 'Jet2', 'Monarch' and 'Ryanair'.   See table below for the routes of these 5 airlines in 2008.  If you wish to book scheduled flights you can travel with British Airways, Iberia and SpanAir.  Please click on the links to your right to visit the individual airline websites.

NOTE:  'Jet2'  have recently added a new route BLACKPOOL to MÁLAGA which is very convenient for those in the North who might normally use Manchester.  Blackpool Airport has excellent transport links and is conveniently located at the end of the M55 which links up with the M6, and onwards to the M61, M65 and beyond.  The airport has car parking on site and is small and friendly, a congestion free alternative.  The queues are small for both check-in and security and there are only a handful of departure gates so no long walks.  If you check-in online you can arrive at the airport just an hour before your flight... much better than going through one of the large airports.
