In Old Town Marbella, explore the honeycomb of  narrow streets where homes, shops and art galleries intermingle to create the atmosphere of a small village. This is an excellent shopping area offering typical local products as well as the famous designer labels. There are numerous excellent restaurants to choose from, ranging from those specialising in the predictably pricey exclusive cordon bleu to the individuality of a backstreet Spanish bar where the Serrano ham is gently cured by tobacco smoke and the Tapas cost just a few euros each.  

Just behind Marbella there is a large shopping centre called "La Cañada".  Here you will find many individual shops as well as the hypermarket 'Alcampo' and familiar high street chain stores.  There are also the favourite weekly open air markets.

Puerto Banús with its many restaurants and designer boutiques also has a shopping centre, 'Costa Marbella' where there is the department store 'El Corte Inglés' and another hypermarket 'Hipercor'. 

Between Marbella and Puerto Banús on the 'Golden Mile' there are many high class restaurants including those within the exclusive 'Marbella Club' and 'Puente Romano' hotels.  On the beaches you will find many 'chiringuitos' where you can enjoy traditional fish and seafood favourites like sardines barbecued on a spit, fried fish and the incomparable paella.  For a truly glamourous location try the Ocean Club or Nikki Beach and lounge on the huge, plush white beds.  As the sun sets, Nikki Beach becomes the best party scene in Marbella, with champagne spraying & cocktails flowing.

Marbella and Puerto Banús both have a vibrant and glittering nightlife scene. It is amazing just how many bars and nightclubs there are and in the summer months you may even find yourself rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous ... 'The JetSet'.  You have to have plenty of energy though as it goes on until dawn and you may well find yourself coming home in the daylight!
